Mandi’s Chapel - In Remembrance of Amanda
My name is Amanda, which means "worthy of love," but everyone calls me "Mandi." My birthday is March 10, 1967. I came home to Heaven May 15, 1992. I grew up loving my family; Dad and Mom, my sister Brette and my brother Ty, St. Andrews School, Bolles, my friends, my animals, my dogs and cats and my pony, "Double Trouble."
I also loved cheerleading, Young Life, Windy Gap, and Happening in 1984 and 1985.
Then it came...Cancer. Out of nowhere...One day it was there. I read my bible and was determined to LIVE by the WORD, to cling to Jesus, my Lord. "Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to everyone, the Lord is near!"
My friends all said I had shining eyes, a beautiful smile, incredible courage and a lively faith. I always said I had good parents. They taught me:
JOY, STRENGTH, PATIENCE, LAUGHTER, COURAGE
.
I want you all to come to this chapel. It is their gift to me. I want to share it with you. I promise to ask God to send a special blessing on each and everyone who comes to this sacred place; the campers, the teenagers, the searching adults, everyone who comes to this chapel in prayer. God hears us when we pray. God answers our prayers in
mysterious and wonderful ways.
This chapel will be a WINDOW TO HEAVEN. I will peep through and be with you. I love the beauty of this place. My "priesthood" I will share at each celebration of the Eucharist here, for you will touch with me Heaven’s Promise of ETERNAL LIFE. "I have loved with you an everlasting love." (Jeramiah 31:3)
"I have called you by name and you are mine." (Isiah 43:1
)
